I've kept dog 1 on the lead whenever I let him outside to play because he has a tendency to wiggle his way under the fence into the front yard and frolic around greeting everyone. His sin is loving people too much. So yesterday, after two of my good friends each lost a pet that was hit by a car, I was rushing out the door when I noticed dog 1 running around the back yard... Where I know his lead can't reach. Dog 1 had succeeded in snapping his lead. Even though I was late I took a few extra minutes to put the dogs in their kennels because I didn't want anything to happen to them.
A little back ground info you need to know about me: I grew up on a farm. All the animals that I loved and favored I called my "not favorites" because my favorites always seemed to die. After awhile of that a person becomes a little calloused to the death of an animal and accepts it as part of life.
I realized yesterday that I would be crushed if anything happened to my little herd of gremlins. Dog 1, dog 2, panther cat, and even little tiger kitty have all found a perfect little spot in my heart. I'm such a softy.
Awe, there is nothing wrong with taking care of you beloved animals, I think that is wonderful :)
